The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in world-wide research efforts to better understand the disease causing virus and its treatment options. There is a growing wealth of information on COVID-19 related to its research, clinical presentation, and treatment outcomes. This resource center, supported by Mylan Pharmaceutics Pvt Ltd provides in depth learning of COVID-19 management from experiences of clinical experts in the field and discusses established guidelines and the newer modalities in treatment. Speakers and medical associations from over 20 states of India have participated to provide a thorough understanding of disease management in their regions.
Indian Medical Association, Associations of Physicians (API), Indian Chest Society (ICS) and others such as IMA Maharashtra, IMA UP, IMA Tamilnadu, API National, API Gujrat, IMA Karnataka, IMA Chandigarh, IMA Delhi, IMA Assam, IMA Bengal State, IMA HP, IMA Uttarakhand, IMA Rajasthan, ICS Maharashtra, IMA MP and ICS MP participated to provide their experiences. The speakers (more than 70) delivered first-hand clinical knowledge of COVID-19 management along with various case presentations. For example Padma Shri, Dr. Randeep Guleria (AIIMS), Padma Shri Dr. Digambar Behera(PGIMER), Dr. Dhiren Gupta (Sir Ganga Ram), Dr. Atul Gogia (Sir Ganga Ram), Dr. Ravindra Mehta (Apollo), Dr. Jason D Goldman (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Ctr), Dr. Kumarasamy (VHS Infectious Diseases Medical Centre and others who are known names at national & international level delivered their experiences in management of the disease.
The various treatment options available (Remdesivir, Favipiravir, oxygen therapy, anticoagulants, steroids, hydroxychloroquine) and in development (antivirals, vaccines), methods of management (ventilators) used were discussed with clinical evidence and on basis of in field experience. The importance of social distancing, sanitization and quarantining was explained.
These continuous medical education (CME) events were focused by topics and aimed to arm doctors and other health care professionals to manage and treat COVID-19 with a thorough understanding of the disease overall.
