Dr. Mayuri Keskar from the Medical Learning Hub (MLH) team introduced and welcomed all the panelists and participants. The poll was raised. The structure of the webinar and the general instructions were shared with the participants.
Module 2: COVID in Children and youth (00:05:33 - 00:33:51)
Dr. Mayuri Keskar invites Dr. Pavan Kumar to the stage to share his knowledge with the audience. Dr. Pavan Kumar, IAP Telangana secretary, Professor of Pediatrics at MNR medical college, Telangana started his session by thanking the participants, Mylan and MLH for this webinar. He addressed the history of COVID-19 in India and rumours about the 3rd wave affecting children the most. He answered the most sought after question : Will children be affected more? The reasons for children being usually less affected were shared by Dr. Kumar. How to tell whether the child is having mild, moderate or severe disease was explained. Importance of daily monitoring and the classification of the severe disease was also shared. Many questions were answered by Dr. Pavan Kumar during the session such as How to differentiate between the flu allergies and COVID-19? When to get the children tested for COVID-19? Is CT-Scan important for COVID positive children? Vaccination for Children?
COVID-19 facts and recommendations were also shared.
In all the session was very informative and well explained.
Module 3: (00:35:00 - 01:17:15) Vaccination for COVID among children: Dr M Surendranath, HOD Dept. of Pediatrics Vijay Marie Hospital, Hyderabad, President of Academy of Pediatrics Telangana State, shared in detail about classification of the disease, its management. Dr Surendranath explained about management of asymptomatic COVID-19 in children, Management of mild COVID-19, treating it from moderate to severe, the medicines used for treating, he explained in detail about antiviral therapy, steroids. He continued the session by sharing guidelines for isolation. Dr Surendranath also explained about MIS syndrome and how to make a differential diagnosis about the disease. COVID in new born was explained and then insights were shared about COVID vaccinations.
Module 4: Question and Answer (00:17:20 - 01:26:56) Several questions were asked during the event, which were answered by the panelist after the session.
Module 5: Thank you note (01:26:57 - 01:28:26) At the end Dr Mayuri Keskar from MLH and Dr Pavan Kumar, secretary IAP Telangana shared vote of thanks with all participants, panelists, organizers and sponsors. Session was ended.
