I was to a large extent responsible for establishing the super specialty of cardiac anaesthesia and critical care in India. I was founder member of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Anaesthesiologists (IACTA), first Chief Editor of its journal Annals of Cardiac Anaesthesia and then IACTA President during 2004-2005 and am Chancellor or Indian College of Cardiac Anaesthesia.
I was responsible for starting formal education / training programme of 2 year fellowship in cardiac anaesthesia through National Board of Examination (NBE).
I was also responsible for establishing the specialty of cardiac critical care in India. I was the first examiner through NBE for critical care fellowship examination. I was execute member of ISSCM for 2 terms, National Vice president and then Controller of Examination of Indian College of Critical Care Medicine.
